Week X : Cinescope Revised
Liminal space, fixed locations, linear time line, and non sequential ordering. How can the cinescope work within this framework to create a new narrative language that will give each story teller and their audience a way of creating a never repeating, always evolving narrative?
The best thing about week X was seeing how the public engaged with the cinescope system. While making the prototype cinescope I had my preconceived ideas of how I envisioned people using the device. But to see all the ways people engaged with it was the greatest learning experience of the entire project. It was exciting to see how others break the system apart and create new unexpected modes of interaction. To see how Buddy Bojorquez used the device experimentally was really satisfying or how the young child present engaged with it enabled me to see that what I had created could be used well by others. What does each user focus on? What becomes the storyteller’s focus? How does this shape the audience’s experience?
