Food For Thought & The 99¢ Story Store
Collaboration with Johanna Schmeer and Will Fron
This project started by focusing on the point of purchase as a threshold for investigation, and lead to a number of stimulating conversations. Johanna, Will, and I started asking ourselves what the narrative gap in people shopping was fulfilling or not fulfilling. This lead us to think about what could the gap between non tangible emotions and experiences that were facilitated through consumption. Our investigations and the systems we used presented a lot of interesting questions about how people perceive their purchased in relationship to their emotions.
For me this made me question my role as a consumer and what I could buy, couldn't buy, or could buy to facilitate something I couldn't buy.
The 99 cent store evened out the playing field and our further investigations and experiments lead us to design and think about how we can redesign the shopping experience and the association that go along with it.
